Overview
The Bar reinforcement in composite slabs usually takes the form of a relatively light welded fabric mesh, commonly supplemented by some bar reinforcement.
Bar reinforcement may be used to supplement the fabric mesh for various reasons such as:
- To achieve longer fire resistance periods
- To reinforce the slab around significant openings.
- When additional transverse reinforcement is needed.
- To achieve greater crack control.
