8mm Rebar - H8/T8

8mm Rebar, which stands for reinforcing bar, is a steel bar or mesh of steel wires used as a tension device in reinforced concrete and reinforced masonry constructions to help and strengthen the concrete under tension. It is also referred to as reinforcement steel or massed steel. Concrete has a low tensile strength but a significant compressive strength. The addition of rebar greatly strengthens the structure's tensile strength. The surface of rebar is frequently "deformed" with ribs, lugs, or indentations to improve bonding with the concrete and lower the possibility of slippage.

Overview

The Bar reinforcement in composite slabs usually takes the form of a relatively light welded fabric mesh, commonly supplemented by some bar reinforcement.

Bar reinforcement may be used to supplement the fabric mesh for various reasons such as:

  • To achieve longer fire resistance periods
  • To reinforce the slab around significant openings.
  • When additional transverse reinforcement is needed.
  • To achieve greater crack control.

Our high yield 8mm reinforcing steel bar is 100% UK sourced and manufactured to BS4449/2005 with CARES approval.
